AeroFarms

Location | Newark, NJ

Located in the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ, this transformative project involves the ground-up construction of a 69,000-square-foot corporate headquarters and production facility for AeroFarms—set to become the world’s largest indoor vertical farm. The new facility is being built on the site of a former steel factory and represents a $30 million redevelopment effort backed by RBH Group, Newark city officials, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, and financial partners including Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group and Prudential Financial, Inc.

The facility utilizes AeroFarms’ clean-tech aeroponic system—a fully controlled indoor farming method that operates without sun or soil and dramatically reduces the environmental impact of food production. The vertical farming system consists of twelve levels of growing platforms enhanced with advanced LED lighting and precise climate control technologies to optimize crop yields year-round. Once operational, the facility will be capable of producing approximately two million pounds of leafy greens and herbs annually. This project not only exemplifies innovation in sustainable agriculture but also supports urban revitalization and local economic development through the adaptive reuse of industrial land.
